what is bikram yoga

Bikram Yoga is a 90 minutes series of 26 Hatha Yoga postures (“asanas”) and 2 breathing exercises (“prayanama”). It is practiced in a room heated to 40°C and taught by certified teachers. Done in a prescribed order, the series is designed to stretch every system in the body, inside out, from bones to the skin, fingertips to the toes and to flush the toxins out of the body through intense sweating. A regular practice will increase vitality, strength, concentration, balance and well being. Yoga is a 5000-year-old science and it is the best way of improving the body and the mind.

”My yoga class is that sweltering day. It’s one long, hot meditation. We put incredible pressure on you to teach you to break your attachment to external things and go within. Instead of blaming others for your own weakness, fear and depression, you will learn to take responsibility for your own life. You’ve got to face yourself in the mirror, every part you don’t like, every mistake you make, every excuse your mind creates to limit your potential liberation–there’s nowhere to run, nowhere to hide. No escape from reality. With these kinds of demands on your abilities and attention, you will soon forget that there is anyone on the next mat in the classroom, much less notice what they are wearing. After you learn to discipline your body and mind under these conditions, you will truly be able to concentrate; no external will be able to break your powerful focus. That’s why I say the the darkest place in the world is under the brightest lamp. In the Torture Chamber of my class, you will find a beautiful light, and the source of that light is within you.”

Why Bikram yoga
and not hot yoga

We only offer what we know best: Bikram Yoga.We specialize in this unique form of yoga because we are truly convinced of its benefits. Created in the 1970’s it has inspired so many new forms of “hot yoga” classes, however it remains the most widely practiced one. Our teachers are highly trained and continuous education is key for us.By focusing on this one series only, we are sure to deliver high quality tuition and to provide our students with the authentic Bikram Yoga experience.

At Bikram Yoga Geneva, all the classes are the same, and opened to all levels. It is simple, yet challenging, no matter how long you have been practicing Bikram Yoga. With dedication and consistency, you can unveil an unlimited range of benefits from a regular Bikram yoga practice, from physical to mental wellbeing. And because your life is complicated and busy enough, we make it simple for you: you do not need to choose a class style or a time, you do not need to book; we offer you 15 chances a week to practice with us!

who we are

Karine

I discovered Bikram Yoga while living abroad in 2005. Back in Geneva I could not imagine my life without Bikram Yoga ! I became a certified teacher in 2008 in Acapulco and opened the Bikram Yoga Geneva studio in 2010.

While we operate as an individual stand alone entity, we are very connected to the network of Bikram Yoga Studios around the world. We are all united by a common passion: sharing and spreading the unique and powerful Bikram yoga series.

Celine discovered Bikram Yoga in London and immediately became passionate about the practice and the mental, spiritual and physical radical transformation. When Bikram Yoga Geneva opened in 2010 she started training regularly and soon felt she should share her passion as a teacher. She graduated in fall 2012 in Los Angeles and teaches in English and French.

Roisin

She graduated from the intensive 9 week teacher training in Los Angeles 2012. Since, she has fulfilled her dream to teach and travel full time in Ireland, the United Kingdom, Mexico and Europe; she settled in Geneva early 2020.
She also teaches an Intermediate Hatha Yoga class and Sivananda Hatha Yoga and is dedicated and passionate about her own daily practice.
